Since it’s the end of the month, why don’t we check what’s left of what I’ve taught you this month, and do a little test. I have 6 questions for you guys.
PRENEZ DU PAPIER ET UN CRAYON, SI VOUS VOULEZ, ET ON VA SE LANCER.
#1. TRADUISEZ: I’d like a zest of lemon in my orance juice.
#2. COMMENT TRADUIRE: The dragon dances are awesome.
#3. COMMENT FORME-T-ON LE SUBJONCTIF PRÉSENT EN FRANÇAIS?
#4. QUE VEUT DIRE, “CON COMME UN BALAI”
#5. DONNEZ-MOI DEUX EXPRESSIONS FRANÇAISES QUI PERMETTENT DE DONNER DES CONSEILS À UN AMI.
#6. TRADUISEZ EN CONJUGUANT LES VERBES AU PASSÉ COMPOSÉ OU À L’IMPARFAIT: It was raining when he arrived at my place, all drenched. He was so handsome!
Here are the answers:
#1. JE VOUDRAIS UN ZESTE DE CITRON DANS MON JUS D’ORANGE.
#2. LES DANSES DU DRAGON SONT GÉNIALES.
#3. The subjunctive present is formed by taking the “they” form of a verb in the present of the indicative, and by adding the endings -E, -ES, -E, -IONS, -IEZ, -ENT
#4. It means “as stupid as a broom”, very stupid basically.
#5. To give advice you can use the expressions: TU DEVRAIS, IL VAUDRAIT MIEUX QUE for example.
#6. IL PLEUVAIT QUAND IL EST ARRIVÉ CHEZ MOI, TOUT TREMPÉ. IL ÉTAIT CANON!
That’s it for today. Now, I’m about to move back to France, so I’m gonna have to disappear for a couple of weeks. There will be no videos for the next couple of weeks, but I’ll still be posting stuff on Facebook and Twitter and Google+, and I’ll see you again when I’m settled in France. In the meantime, if you have any requests as what you’d like to learn about, just email me at ohlalalanguages@gmail.com. TCHAO!
