Learn RIRE in French & LE YOGA DU RIRE
SALUT!
COMMENT ÇA VA? VOUS AVEZ PASSÉ UN BON WEEK-END?
Let’s start the week in the most positive way, with laughter, RIONS! Do you know that laughing can actually boost the immune system, speed up a recovery and of course make your feel happier. And did you know that the body can’t make the difference between a real and a fake laugh?! Based on those various observations – among other things – Indian Doctor Madan Kataria founded Laugter yoga, LE YOGA DU RIRE. Now it’s spread over 100 countries, can you believe it! France is among those countries where people gather to do some cardio exercises and laugh! I’m personally not big on yoga, I get bored with it easily, but I’m pretty big on laughing. Today, let’s just have a good time together and learn a few words and expressions related to LE RIRE, laughter!

FRENCH VOCABULARY: RIRE & SOURIRE (laughter and smile)
UN SOURIRE – a smile
SOURIRE – to smile
RIRE – to laugh
LE RIRE EST LE PROPRE DE L’HOMME. That’s what we say out here. Yes, we are privileged animals since we’re the only ones to have the ability to laugh! Go ahead, start laughing.
Now, we have several words in French that mean “to laugh”:
RIRE, RIGOLER, SE MARRER (a bit more familiar).
FRENCH EXPRESSIONS ON LAUGHTER
“To burst into laughter will be” = ÉCLATER DE RIRE – RIRE AUX ECLATS – RIRE À PLEINES DENTS
And then going up a notch in the familiarity of the language and in the intensity of the laughter…: SE FENDRE LA POIRE, SE TORDRE DE RIRE
Come on, let it all out! It’s good for the body and the mind.
MOURIR DE RIRE – to crack up – OUI, ON EST MORTS DE RIRE.
Another one… AVOIR LE FOU RIRE… And finally, what can trigger laughter:
UNE BLAGUE. UNE PETITE BLAGOUNETTE. UNE FARCE.
