HOW TO PREPARE YOUR TRIP TO FRANCE
Learn a few tips to prepare your trip to France
Salut tout le monde!
J’ESPÈRE QUE VOUS ALLEZ TOUS BIEN ET QUE VOUS AVEZ ENTRETENU VOTRE FRANÇAIS CES DERNIÈRES SEMAINES!
Sorry I disappeared, but I moved back to Paris after more than 8 years living in Los Angeles and it’s taken me a minute to settle in. All good though!
JE SUIS RENTRÉE AU BERCAIL!
I’m ready to blog again, but a bit less than before. I gotta focus on my acting career now. But, I’m not letting you down. Keep up that French for I’ll be posting two videos a week: TOUS LES LUNDIS ET LES MERCREDIS.
So, moving back to Paris made me think of a few pragmatic points you should keep in mind when traveling to France.
1. LE DÉCALAGE HORAIRE: What is jetlag
D’ABORD, PRÉPAREZ-VOUS TANT BIEN QUE MAL AU DÉCALAGE HORAIRE. I hate being jet lagged. I’m pretty bad with it, and I find it harder when arriving in France coming from the US than the other way round. So, if you’re as bad with it as I am, just be prepared to be wide awake at night the first few days you’re in France. France is 9 hours ahead of California – only 8 hours at the moment since you guys haven’t switched to summer time yet, and we have.
2. LES ADAPTATEURS ÉLECTRIQUES: Difference of voltage France/USA
ENSUITE, PENSEZ À EMPORTER DES ADAPTEURS POUR VOS APPAREILS ÉLECTRIQUES. American appliances are usually designed for a 120 voltage. But the current in France is 240 volts. Watch out for that or you will fry your belongings, ÇA VA GRILLER. Computers are usually fine though, as they have already have a transformer integrated.
3. QUEL TEMPS FAIT-IL? Check the climate of the place you’re traveling to
PUIS, VÉRIFIER QUEL TEMPS IL FAIT LÀ OÙ VOUS ALLEZ. Climate change can be pretty drastic and a shock to the system. I’ve moved from Los Angeles to the South of France and will be moving on to Paris and believe me, after 3 weeks my body is still trying to adjust. Yep! Had to go shopping for some warmer clothes. SI VOUS ALLEZ EN FRANCE EN VACANCES, NE FAITES PAS COMME MOI, FAITES VOTRE SHOPPING AVANT DE PARTIR!
4. A QUELLE HEURE ON MANGE? French meal times
SOYEZ PRÊTS À MANGER DIFFÉREMMENT ET PLUS TARD LE SOIR. One thing I am delighted about, is getting to eat French food again. Oh my god, I’ve missed it! Checking out French supermarkets will be a fun adventure for those of you who have never been to France before. For me, it’s been happy times as I find food products cheaper and more varied than in the US. Meal times in France tend to be between 12 and 1pm for lunch, and between 7 and 9pm for dinner, depending on where you live.
ET PUIS BIEN SÛR, AVANT DE PARTIR EN FRANCE, APPRENEZ LE FRANÇAIS ET ENTRAINEZ-VOUS UN MAXIMUM À PARLER.
À PLUS! ON SE RETROUVE APRÈS-DEMAIN!
